Volunteer Week 2010 is fast approaching and will be celebrated this year in communities across Nova Scotia from April 18 – 24. We encourage you to nominate a deserving INDIVIDUAL from your group to be recognized for their selfless acts of generosity. The nominated volunteer will be recognized at the annual Annapolis County Volunteer Awards & Reception on Wednesday, April 21, 2010. A Selection Committee will meet in early March to select four individuals from among those nominated to receive a Provincial Volunteer Award at an Awards Ceremony at the Westin, Halifax, NS, on April 12th.
If you believe your chosen volunteer is worthy of provincial recognition, it is imperative that the nomination you submit clearly describes the level of service and commitment of time devoted to the volunteer activity – be it local, provincial or national. For example: Joe/Josephine Volunteer – 10 years as a local hockey coach (has taken coaches training and obtained certification), 7 years as a representative on the Provincial Hockey Association, and 1 year as a representative to the National Hockey Association; also collects for the Cancer Society and Heart & Stroke Foundation for 15 years; secretary to Big Brothers/Big Sisters for 4 years.
All nominations must be received by February 26, 2010. A nomination form is attached for your convenience. Please contact Steve Raftery at 824-0387 if you have any questions relating to the process.
